DIGITAL PRINTMAKING - SUMINAGASHI POP-ART - ABSTRACT #01 - "Map of the Fringe"
$37.00
The Digital Suminagashi Pop Editions are created using a mashup of techniques. They are derived from the Japanese paper marbling tradition of Suminagashi ("floating ink") and from modern halftone printing color separations used for industrial offset printing used in magazines and photo books. Both of these ancient and modern surface transformations are applied to simple, abstract shapes originally inspired by Mark Rothko but then extend into the more playful forms of Joan Miro.
They are then finished with a look and feel of an old, vintage live performance poster attached to an old plaster wall perhaps not far from Toulouse-Lautrec's Montmarte.
